Retro-Computing Road Trip
- Details
As International Miriam Year winds down, a road trip to the Retro-Computing Society in Providence. Their monthly open-house featured a machine by Electronics Associates Inc. (EAI). [Strangely, Wikipedia has nothing on EAI (!).] Dad worked at EAI for 31 years, Mom for ? years; they met there and married. Three of their kids worked various stints there.
Post WWII, EAI's analog (yes, analog!) Pace computer put the company on the map. Later products included bed plotters and power-plant simulators.
RCSRI is open to the public on the third Saturday of each month. Drop by to explore their collection of old mainframes and peripherals, in an atmospheric, "fall o' Rome" mill complex. Our guide, Michael (?), was a patient font of computer history. Thanks!
